Amazon UK discounts Honor 70 and Magic4 Pro, offers deals on a tablet and laptop too

How about a new smartphone with great cameras so you can snap photos during the holidays? Amazon UK has discounts on a couple of Honor models that will help you capture memories during the festivities. There is also a 12” tablet to binge shows on, plus a laptop for some light gaming (or, you know, work).

The Honor 70 is part of the outgoing series, but the Honor 80 still hasn’t made its way to the UK and there is no word on its price either. The 70 is still a well-rounded mid-ranger with a 6.7” FHD+ OLED display (120Hz, HDR10+) and a Snapdragon 778G+. Many in this segment stick to a basic 8MP ultra wide, but not the Honor – it has a 50MP 122° camera, in addition to the 54MP main module (1/1.49”).

When we reviewed this phone earlier this year we were quite happy with the image quality of the 32MP selfie camera. The 4,800mAh battery achieved a 100h Endurance rating in our tests and was quick to charge – 0-71% in 30 minutes, 0-100% in 50 minutes.

The Honor Magic4 Pro is the company’s current flagship (the Ultimate version isn’t available in the West and doesn’t add much anyway). It costs nearly double the price of the Honor 70, but it brings the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and switches to an LTPO display panel (variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz) with an increased pixel density (460ppi vs. 395ppi). Also, it has strengthened glass and an IP68 rating (the Honor 70 is lacking basic protection).

Even better, in addition to the 50MP main and 50MP ultra wide cameras, there is a 64MP 90mm periscope lens (3.5x magnificiation) and a 3D ToF sensor. There is another ToF sensor on the front, plus a 12MP ultra wide selfie camera (100°). The small 4,600mAh battery doesn’t last as long as the Honor 70 battery, the Magic4 Pro got an 82h Endurance rating. At least it is fast to charge – it needs 30 minutes using a USB cable (at 100W) or 40 minutes using a 100W wireless charger.

The Honor Earbuds 3 Pro deliver high quality audio and can do it at high volume too. The 11mm driver and piezoelectric tweeter offer punchy base and clear treble. Honor also nailed the fit and comfort. Active Noise Cancellation is good, even if the auto mode got it wrong sometimes. Overall, we were quite impressed with the buds back when they cost £170, now they look even better with a £61 discount.

Most Android tablets are between 8” and 10” in size, but whether it’s streaming video or reviewing documents, bigger is better. The Honor Pad 8 is an affordable 12” slate with a 2,000 x 1,200px IPS LCD. The Snapdragon 680 chipset isn’t massively powerful, but this isn’t a gaming tablet anyway. You do get Widevine L1 so Netflix and YouTube can play at 1080p and there are a total of eight speakers for great audio.

Some still prefer laptops over tablets. The Honor MagicBook 16 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 5600H (Zen 3, 45W TDB, 6 cores, 12 threads, Vega 7 with 7 CUs). This particular unit is equipped with 16GB of RAM (soldered) and a 512GB SSD. The display is better than what most laptops have – 16.1” 1080p IPS LCD with 144Hz refresh rate.
