Tecno introduced its first laptop at IFA, now the company is launching something more premium – the Tecno MegaBook S1. This laptop is super thin and light, it measures 13.5mm thick (0.53”) and weighs 1.35kg (2.97lbs). That is very petite for a 16” laptop, but the magnesium alloy build makes for a sturdy body.

The 16” display has 3.2K resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This is high quality panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB coverage. It is fairly bright for a laptop too, reaching 450 nits, and it offers a flicker-free experience with DC dimming.

The MegaBook T1 from a few months ago was powered by an 11th generation Intel processor. The S1 upgrades to a 12th gen Core i7 (35W TDP) with dual-fan cooling. For storage, you can choose between 512GB and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs, RAM is 16GB either way (LPDDR5).

Despite its low weight, the laptop features a large 70Wh battery. For charging, it uses one of its two USB-C ports and the included 65W GaN charger Additionally, there are two USB-A ports, a full-size HDMI, a 3.5mm jack and a microSD card reader.

The MegaBook S1 comes with Windows 11 out of the box plus some special Tecno features. For example, there is NFC, which lets you quickly pair your Tecno phone and view its screen on the laptop display using the OneLeap feature.

The sharp, color-accurate display promises a great multimedia experience and the speakers back that up – Tecno managed to fit 6 speakers and added DTS:X Ultra support. There are two microphones on board with AI-powered noise cancellation for calls. The built-in webcam has AI smarts too, it can detect when someone is peeking over your shoulder and it will blank the screen.

The Tecno MegaBook S1 is coming to select markets in two configurations – 512GB storage for $1,500 and 1TB storage for $1,600 (that’s €1,425/₹123,500 and €1,520/₹131,500, respectively).
